Jpod Southern Resident Orcas

1. there is an intrinsic, undeniable value of life, and the respect of this is based on ethics.
2. we need species to keep the system (the biosphere that we depend on to live) resilient and adaptive to changes in characteristics of the system.
3. there is an interdependence between species, and it is unknown how the loss of one will affect the ecosystem as a whole – it may trickle down to directly affect humans.
4. there is so much to be learned from natural systems (eg – an orca) as they (in contrast to the inefficient and feable efforts of humans to produce superior technology) are the most efficient at survival, and it is a huge loss to the collective resources and potential knowledge of the planet to lose access to these amazing animals and all their adaptations, abilities and secrets.
5. there is also an amazing connection between orca whales and humans that brings people a lot of upliftment and happiness, and this should not be underestimated in its importance to the social fabric of our many cultures here in canada and usa.
