“As part of the celebration of NOAA’s 200th anniversary, staff are sending in pictures from various field locations. This one is taken at Ross Bay, Antarctica by a fellow NOAA employee Bob Pitman of NOAA marine biologist Lisa Ballance. They believe this calf may be a new species of killer whale living in the ice in that region.”
