Recent news from the Center for Whale Research tells us that the Southern Resident killer whales have given birth to two new babies! YAY for orca babies. With that wonderful news comes some worrying news; well known and popular rockstar orca Faith L57 is missing and considered gone.
2 weeks ago, a superpod appeared in front of Victoria which I was fortunate to witness. All 3 pods were together. It is unusual to have a superpod here in winter time. It is thought to be because there was a lack of food in their winter feeding grounds of California. This is bad news. Let’s have faith and hope for the best.
