Around 2001, I developed a flash eulogy to the missing women of Vancouver, this was a memorial which presented each woman with their own interactive photo giving a name and identity to these women who were seen only as drug addicts and prostitutes. The presentation was lead by a poem and music.
It was very popular and well linked at the time (still is hence the existence of this page explaining it’s disappearance), this was simply a catharsis for me. I felt the need to dedicate my energy in a positive way, to educating the public about what had happened to so many women in my home town at the time of Vancouver BC. The project took hours to completely however seemed to just flow through me at the time so effortlessly.
I have encountered my own dark times in my life, I am sure we all have. No one, should have to suffer through something like this no matter their circumstances. The fact that society seemed to turn a blind eye to such individuals is a symptom of our society’s sickness and lack of compassion and further more a lack of consciousness. At the time I was dreaming of the women which left me feeling unrested. This project helped me, to give something back. To let people know that I had not ignored it. It helped to bring a bit of peace to my life as well.
Unfortunately, this project was lost during an outage in 2002. Please go to the Vision Quest page for a much larger project which followed soon after.
